Apple’s iPhone 12 MagSafe technology allows faster 15-watt charging while also aligning the phone perfectly every time. With USB-C, that problem is easily remedied. There’s nothing worse than reaching a destination only to realize a rare and critical charger has been left behind. Of course, moving to the industry standard USB-C makes things simpler for the customer when traveling. MagSafe was actually fairly large and heavy compared to modern MacBooks and Apple is a huge proponent of thin and light technology. That means the fancy magnetic plug starts to become an unnecessary expense. Since most newer MacBook computers can run for 10 or more hours on a single charge, it’s more likely that they are plugged in for an hour or two during the day or charged up overnight.
